KOLEAN W SANDERS' life is a powerful example of resilience. She overcame abuse which occurred in her early years following the death of her mother, Ms. Geneva Williams. Were it not for the words of wisdom given to her by Ms. Williams, Kolean may not have survived her early troubles.
Kolean made a connection with her heavenly Father in the middle of the night. She was given a promise in scripture, John 14:14, on which she stood through the decades that followed.
“If you shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.”
Through the ups and downs of life, Kolean clung to that promise… through many years of struggle and success, finally to become the first female minority to make many notable business accomplishments. She has shared her story through books, keynote talks, classes, and music. She is the founder of the Geneva Foundation, named for the legacy of her mother.
In this book, she chronicles yet another battle she had to fight, with cancer, chemotherapy and covid 19, the three C’s that Changed her life. The initial diagnosis felt like the weight of a ton of bricks. Relying again however, on the promise of John 14:14, coupled with the knowledge that God indeed had a plan and a purpose for her to fulfill in life, she fought and won, giving God all the glory.
Her purpose of this book is to help those who have received a cancer diagnosis, and those who may be caring for them. Her prayer is that they may be encouraged, that they may learn from information provided, and that they may also be inspired to fight for their recovery.
NEW BEGINNINGS is a collection of personal testimonies shared by those who have endured hardship, mistreatment, abuse, and incarceration. This work is a small part of the entire process of each one's quest for a New Beginning. These stories were first shared on a worldwide weekly radio broadcast which allows brave survivors such as these to stand on a platform, share their journeys, and bear their souls as they come out of the darkness and into the light. For most of the guests, it was their very first time to open up and share. The show actually became their new beginnings as they express the desire to help others who listen around the world.
Many are unaware of the fact that survivors of these experiences are often sufferers of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and struggle to adjust to society or interact with people effectively. Unfortunately, many of them go to their graves bearing their secrets and their deeply hidden shame. Theses who have had the opportunity to share often report that they hear from family members with encouragement or reconciliation.
But often, it’s the feedback of the audience that brings us all to tears. When the show is advertised on social media, the audience provides feedback from around the world. After the show, even more feedback floods in as listeners share how blessed they were to hear true survivor stories. Many say they have experienced similar ordeals, and the show has given them courage to accept the reality of their plights, to acknowledge the pain of it, and to prepare to move forward with their own lives.
Each of these stories were shared during the 2021-2022 broadcast season. The decision was made to compile all the stories and to share them in one complete volume. The struggles they encountered in their lives range from domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, grief from tragic loss of loved ones, crime, drug abuse, and prison. The selection for candidates to interview was based on the prospect of a new beginning. While everyone has a story, in order to be on the show, one has to have chosen a new path to victory, deliverance and success.
As a youngster, traumatic events occurred over several years, transforming Kolean Sanders' childhood into one of shame, bitterness and pain. She carried within herself the wounds of those devestating changes throughout her life. Obviously, however, God had another plan.
